Internet Marketing requires constant attention and consistent content creation. Simple, right? Not really.

Positioning your company as an expert in the industry allows you to be the “go to” source for information customers are looking for. For instance, if you own a bakery, its website and social media channels should be updated every day - displaying daily specials, store hours and how-to guides. The more information given, the more reason people will have to come to the site.

There are many different types of content you can produce, but the following are a great place to start:

  • Videos
  • White Papers
  • News Releases
  • Social Posts
  • Infographics

With all the time and effort it takes to create new content, you want to make sure that it is not sitting on your website unseen. One of the easiest and most efficient ways to get content in front of customers is through social media. Social media is quick, has a large audience, can significantly help your SEO rankings and it’s free.

When it comes to social media sharing, there are two things to focus on: virality potential and which platforms to utilize.

Viral marketing is defined as content that is published with the goal of being shared from person-to-person via e-mail, social media and word-of-mouth. Regardless of industry, the goal in content creation is to get customers to share your information and refer others to it. Although it is difficult to get something to go viral nationwide, with a little bit of creativity and the right promotion, there is opportunity to drive attention to your company.

With so many social media platforms to choose from, it is hard to determine which ones would best suit your company. Here are a few to get your started:

  • Google +
  • You Tube
  • Tumblr
  • Pinterest
  • Instagram

Keep in mind, it reflects poorly on your company to have a social media platform that is not updated frequently or abandoned all together. It is a good idea to start slow; only create what you can keep up with. Once comfortable with social media and self-publishing, start another platform and then continue from there. Obviously, the more you put your company out there, the more traffic and brand awareness you will create.
